The latest information reaching us is that The National Universities Commission (NUC) has shut down an illegal part-time programme which is allegedly operated by the Imo State University (IMSU) in Abuja.
The National University Commission also summoned the Vice-Chancellor of IMSU to Abuja to explain why the university is running a part-time programme in Abuja without the knowledge of the Authorities.
The IMSU Illegal Part-Time programme is operated at the Junior Secondary School, Area 10, Abuja, was sealed on Saturday with the help of some armed policemen who accompanied the NUC Committee on Closure of Illegal Universities to the venue.
The Nigerian police also arrested the Coordinator of the Part-Time programme, Mr. A. C Odunze, who tried to run away when he saw the policemen. (of course, he knew what he was doing is totally wrong, so he had to run)
Most of the Lecturers also ran when the police arrive, not only were the lecturers running, the students also ran out of the school. (It was a running day for them)
However, the Coordinator of the IMSU Part-Time programme, Mr. A. C Odunze has been arrested and he is currently in the Police Custody.
The NUC always made it known that no institution is allowed to run illegal part-time programme in Nigeria. (This is the reason why part-time programmes is banned from most Nigerian Universities).
